The time has come to say see you later to RateSetter. If you don’t know what RateSetter is you can check out my post detailing my investment experience with them here.
My divestment of RateSetter has been completed now that my loan had the final payment made as an early principal repayment.
RateSetter investment period and return
I made my initial investment on 21/07/2016 and the final payment came in on 04/11/2019. That is an investment period of 1201 days. My total return has been $233.24 after fees were taken out. That works out to be a return of roughly 19 cents per day and an annualized return of ~7.08%. This likely would’ve been a bit higher if I keep money on the market instead of divesting. However as mentioned in my original article I am concerned about the risks of RateSetter and that’s why I have removed my investment.
Even though I have divested completely, the investment was successful for me. As I said the only reason I deciding to stop my investment is due to concerns about how the investment will fare during tough times like a recession. I encourage everyone to investigate RateSetter to if it is a good investment fit for you.
RateSetter still have a special offer running currently that might be of interest to people interested in an alternative investment. If you invest $1,000 in the 1 month rolling or 5 year markets they will give you a bonus $50. You need to sign up through this link to access the offer before 31st of December 2019. I will also receive $50 if you meet the criteria for the offer. This offer is a good opportunity to try it out and see if it right for your investment strategy.
