Spaceship is an Australian FinTech company which first came into the Australian financial industry with its super products. However they then expanded into a micro investing app, called Spaceship Voyager, which seems to be their main business now. I have been using their app for about a year, so I thought I would share my experiences with it.
Note: Spaceship Voyager have now released a web app to go along with their mobile app. You can check out our quick overview of the web app here.
The Spaceship Voyager App
The app is slick and polished, one of the better financial apps out there in the marketplace. All the pages are well designed and easy to navigate. You can view the portfolio investments and respective performance of each stock. Their investments are wide ranging, from Australian companies to tech startups and other global companies
They also have a live chat function built into the app, which works very well and the support is responsive.
The app also provides a few options to invest in Spaceship’s funds. There is a one-off investment option as well as a scheduled investment plan setup. Both are straight forward and easy to use. Scheduled payments can be made weekly, fortnightly or monthly. All payments mad into the fund are done by direct debit.

Spaceship Voyager Investment Returns
It has mostly been a set and forget experience for me which is great. About a year ago I started with $5 doing a one off investment. My account balance is now at $52.60 which is a great return. But $40 of this was a promotion bonus. So for a more accurate return I will start the calculation as if I invested $45, which still gives a great return of $7.53 over the year. This gives a fantastic annualised percentage return of 16.7%. However as it actively managed they are unlikely to beat the market every year but we will see how their performance continues over time.
They paid a nice distribution at the end of the financial year to the tune of 61 cents! Every little bit helps! But this is mainly due to the growth investing strategy of their fund.
Spaceship Newsletter
Spaceship also send out weekly newsletters and emails detailing investment decisions and other personal finance topics. They send out detailed reports of investment changes to the funds and all the reasoning behind the changes. I think this great transparency, especially for people who are interested in knowing what’s going on with their investments. They also produce other personal finance content which people might find helpful. I think they do a great job of trying to promote more financial literacy in Australia.
So if you are interested in trying out Spaceship’s investment app you can get a $5 sign up bonus, by using this code S8K2QQ9C6S and investing at least $5 into your account. I will also receive a $5 referral bonus if you sign up.
