Welcome to part 4 of the matched betting series, and today’s topic is dutching. If you’ve haven’t read our previous articles in the series you find them at: sign up offers, multi promotions and horse racing offers.

What is dutching?

Dutching is similar to the back/lay method in that you are betting on both outcomes of the event; but you are using another bookie instead of Betfair. In this case we can take advantage of promotions that bookies are offering on the event; while reducing our potential losses. Bookies will often offer promotions like if your team is leads by 12 points at half time (Rugby league) you get an early payout. This means if your team goes on to lose you will get paid out for both outcomes of the event. Another example is if your team is leading at 3/4 time but go onto lose you get your money back.

For most of the big sports many bookies will be offering different promotions so you use multiple bookies on the same event to increase your chances of hitting one of the promos. Sometimes you can place bets with up to 8 bookies on the same event all offering different promos. This technique is similar to the multi promos in that you are making positive expected value (EV) bets. This means you will have ups and downs on your dutching bets but over time you will make money.

How do I dutch an event?

Dutching can be a bit complicated to work out for an event, making sure your losses are minimal while still being exposed to as many promotions as possible. I have used tools from the guys at Bonusbank to make my dutching experience so much easier. Without these tools it wouldn’t be feasible to make money from this technique. The time involved would be far too long.

They have a dutching calculator that allows you to fill in the odds for each of the bookies you are using and each outcome of the event. You can then play with the stakes (remembering promotions will have maximum stakes) to get the loss to an acceptable number.

But to make it even easier to dutch, Bonusbank post daily dutch plays which has the bookies and stakes set up for each event of the day that you can just follow. They try to set these up with the highest expected value with low losses and many chances to hit a promo. Now if you aren’t able to make the bets as soon as the plays are posted the odds will likely change over the day. All that means is you will need to use the dutching calculator with the updated odds to work out if you need to change any stakes.

Due to the amount of events (especially in footy season) you can dutch, this technique can give nice regular income. You can expect $100 – $200 a week, sometimes more. The best part is you can set up all the dutch in one batch. This should only take 30 minutes once you get the hang of it. Then once it’s all set up you don’t need to keep an eye on it, unlike the racing promotions.

Is it worth trying?

I highly recommend after completing your sign up bonuses, to try out dutching. Use the daily plays from Bonusbank to save time. The income you can make compared to the time invested is rather high. I much prefer dutching to horse racing. It is much less work and time needed to make a decent profit. If your interested in seeing how much I made from dutching, you can check my wrap up post for my final profits. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. If you use dutching, let me know your experience with it.
