In the past parts of the matched betting series we have covered all the techniques I have used to earn money from this side hustle. Today I will share my total profits from all these techniques. I am banned (gubbed in matched betting jargon) from most of the bookies in Australia now so I don’t envision these profits rising much further. This might give you an idea of how much you can make from each of the techniques individually and overall. However, keep in mind that everyone’s situation is different and you might get the same offers from the bookies or might get banned earlier. Also the regulations around gambling are constantly changing and may cause a hit to any matched betting earnings.
Sign up bonuses
Profit: $6,153.05
I signed up with 18 bookies and got the highest bonuses possible from each one. The vast majority of this profit came over the course of 3 months. In terms of turnover, I had to put in a total of $14,285.50 to get this level of profit. But a lot of this was the profit being extracted from one bookie or Betfair and put straight back into another bookie. Sign up offers are easily the best value matched betting technique to learn. You can earn great profits without much time investment which the other techniques can require.
Multi promotions
Profit: $2,530.51
For the multi promotions I used two main bookies with a few others when their multi specials appeared. The majority of this profit was earned in 5 months before I was banned from these bookies for this lucrative technique. Some interesting stats: I made 383 multi bets over this time, with a total amount bet of $18,369.50. Again most of this is winnings being reinvested and put on new bets. Multi promotion betting is probably the second most valuable technique in terms of time spent and money earned.
Horse racing promotions
Profit: $66.07
Not a big earner for me personally, however many others make large amount of profit. I only made 14 bets and bet $695 using this technique. By the time I got to trying this technique I was already banned at a lot of bookies. Additionally the time investment (especially on a weekend) was a problem for me. However if you have the time, this one can be a big money earner.
Dutching
Profit: $3,220.75
Dutching was another big earner for me, accounting for roughly a quarter of total profits. Similar to the multi promotions, the majority of the profit came from 5 months of betting before being blacklisted. In total, I made 346 bets over that time, and bet $71,806. Dutching is an easy to understand and profitable technique. It just requires a bit more time investment than sign up offers and multi promotions.
Mug bets and other bonuses
Profit: $246.93
This profit comes from mug bets (bets made to make your account profile look more normal to bookies) and random bonuses from bookies. I didn’t do much mug betting, if I did I might’ve lasted a bit longer however there is quite a bit of time involvement to set up mug bets. It depends on your situation and if you need the longer term income from matched betting.
Total matched betting profit
Profit: $12,217.31
So I made a total of $12,217.31 from around 8 months of matched betting. Not a bad profit considering I probably did less than an hour a day when it all works out. In total, I made over $105,000 in bets at the various bookies in Australia, which feels like a huge amount. Overall, I am very happy that I found matched betting and was brave enough to give it a crack. It has been an awesome side hustle for myself and I hope many others can benefit from it as well.
I hope you have found this matched betting series enjoyable and/or informative. If you are interested in earning money from matched betting, I recommend you check out BonusBank, their software makes these techniques much easier. It also greatly reduces the time involvement, I’ve tried without their software and it takes ages. If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments below, I would be happy to answer them.
